The logo for the Petra Maria Ruiz Guillen Foundation is an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Houston, Texas with Petra’s full name written inside of the image.  Petra lived most of her life in Second Ward. Her time was spent between her home on North Saint Charles Street and at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Petra’s name inside the image represents her lifelong devotion, service, and dedication as a parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Many have said this church was her second home where she spent countless hours volunteering daily.  In Petra’s name, the letter “T” is shaped like the cross on the rosary she wore around her waist and the necklace she wore around her neck as a catechist.

The cross symbolizes Petra’s dedication to the promises she made when she became a Catechist of Divine Providence.  Later in life, as a married woman and mother, Petra Guillen was completely devoted to supporting her family, but she also continued to be extremely active at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Throughout her life, Petra exemplified the promises made as a Catechist of Divine Providence to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and the community through her spiritual devotion and service.
