It can be said that Petra instilled love and dedication for family and church and all who came in contact with her. One of her greatest passions was the discipline and power of prayer.

Her religious beliefs were always an enormous source of love for her and she considered the church her home. She was a great storyteller and expressed great pleasure when reminiscing and vividly retelling stories.

She acknowledged that it was both her faith and ancestors’ prayers that sustained her for ninety-five years. When asked what her greatest accomplishments were she would respond without hesitation, “family and church–both are one.”
